I was supposed to run a promo on “Honest, the Martian Ate Your Dog” on Kindle from today (Saturday the 15th) for a week and I’ve been preparing for a week now. Initially, I thought the promo was last week and I even announced it, last week but then when I checked the Amazon dashboard, it seemed to indicate that the promo would be starting this weekend.
So I announced for this weekend and made preparations for that. And of course, in the middle of all of that, I forgot to actually go check that the promo had actually started and the price had dropped …
Then, I got an outraged message from somebody calling it a scam and that I was trying to get money from them under false pretenses because the book had never dropped in price. I checked and found out that they were correct (at least about the price not dropping part) because there was no change in price.
So I went to the Amazon dashboard and this is what it showed me:
Huh? The promo began last Saturday and ended today? But how come then I didn’t see a price change last week?
I am so confused 🫤
Whatever the case maybe, it looks as if my first foray into setting up promos didn’t really work well. I am hesitant to blame it on my inexperience in the area since I am sure I checked the dashboard multiple times to make sure that the promo was supposed to start this week. But who knows?
I don’t know if I’ll try again with Amazon since this has proven to be a disappointing experience. But maybe the Smashwords sale in July will prove to be different?
One can only hope ….
My apologies to anybody who waited for the promo and tried the links in vain. I know how you must feel because I’m feeling some of the same feelings now. I can only say that I’m new to the process and should have checked on things more instead of believing that it would all work correctly.
